The Great Outdoors

Our spacious gardens provide a perfect environment for quality play, authentic and purposeful learning. Outdoor learning at Acorns improves child development, supports mental health, wellbeing, deepens the connection with nature and promotes more inclusive and engaging learning.

“Our gardens provide an inspiring environment for the children to learn, which builds confidence, encourages resilience and embraces the world around us”

Outdoor Classrooms

Our outdoor classrooms have a major impact on the learning and development of our children. From enhancing problem solving skills, to communication and resilience, outdoor learning provides endless opportunities for exploration, experimentation and contextual learning.

“Outdoor learning boosts confidence, social skills, communication, motivation, physical skills, knowledge and understanding. It has also been proven to boost children’s self esteem, self confidence, ability to work cooperatively and positive attitude to learning.”

Forest School

We have followed the forest school approach at Acorns for many years.

Our experienced staff are qualified to deliver the principles as set by the Forest School Association.

Many nurseries and schools play outside, however our children take part in meaningful forest school sessions which requires so much more than opening the doors and being outside.
