Forest School

Forest School at Acorns offers children regular opportunities to enjoy hands on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment. Our children connect with nature, get fresh air and exercise, develop their communication skills, imagination and thinking skills, build their confidence and resilience and most importantly have lots of fun.

The forest school leaders at Acorns are all qualified al Level 3 Forest School and they create a unique and enjoyable experience for the children whilst learning through play.

Our Acorns team enjoy the forest school sites with their staff, we often hold staff meetings and team-building events, lighting fires, toasting marshmallows, creating a great base for sharing ideas and future planning.

Forest school is an inspirational process that offers children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on experiences in a natural environment and uses the forest school area as an outdoor classroom.

“Our children take part in a variety of activities such as building dens, making leafy pictures, creating fantasy worlds, cooking in mud kitchens, bug hunts, making wood cookies and most importantly caring for the environment. There are also plenty of opportunities for free exploration of the woodland alongside our child-centred staff. We have a passion for outdoor learning and understand how to cover all the Early Years curriculum in an exciting hands-on way that children love.”
